In this video I take you through how to get PHP Code Sniffer and the WordPress Coding Standards projects setup on your machine. I then show you how to integrate it in to the awesome PHPStorm IDE. Why would you want to do this? Well easy, because it’s extremely important (especially when working with open source software) to keep the formatting and syntax of the code consistent. When you work on a theme or plugin, you should always think about how can you build this in a way that someone working on it in 6 months from now will have no problems picking it up. Keeping your code consistent is just one of the ways you can do that. WordPress has a recommended guideline for how to write code, and doing the above will help you adhere to those guidelines. This video is one of many I’m doing this year where I am going to show you how to create the perfect WordPress development environment. It’s going to be a 100% free course and all you have to do to get the course is subscribe to my newsletter. Feedback is always welcome!
