Since I’m helping out at WordPress Global Translation Day in Manchester this weekend, I figured I’d better learn a thing or two about what we’re looking to help with. It turns out that getting involved in translating WordPress isn’t as difficult or daunting as it sounds. All you need is language knowledge and a little bit of time. I’m not kidding when I say a little bit of time either. When I looked in to it I found that I can be contributing to the translation of WordPress in under ten minutes. Here’s a really simply way of getting involved. Step 1: Find your locale. First of all, the easiest way to get involved in translating WordPress is to head on over to https://translate.wordpress.org. This is the home of the Polyglots and you can find out all the information you need about why translating is important and why they need all the help they can get. Primary when you click on the link you will see a list of locales and, importantly, how many contributors there currently are for that language. Step 2: Find a core/theme/plugin that needs some help Already you will see what languages really need the extra volunteers. Go ahead and click on ‘Contribute Translation’ in your local language.
