Doc’s WordPress News Drop is a weekly report on the most pressing WordPress news. When the news drops, I will pick it up and deliver it right to you.

We had a great time at WordCamp Austin this weekend and wanted to share some of the highlights in this week’s News Drop video.

You can find our full #WCATX set of videos and interviews in this Youtube playlist.

Love WordPress news, but hate reading? My name is Doc and this is Doc Pop’s News Drop.

I had a great time hanging out at WordCamp Austin this weekend. I was expecting to mostly see locals at the event but there turned out to be many attendees from out of state. And even a few from out of the country.

Due to a lack of affordable spaces, this was the first WordCamp Austin since 2014. I talked to Ryan Hoover, one of this year’s organizers, about how they found a space by thinking unconventional.

One of my favorite highlights from WordCamp Austin was the KidsCamp, a one day workshop teaching kids how to set up their first WordPress website. Some kids set up blogs about video games, some set up personal sites, it was great. Sadly, none of the kids set up a yo-yo site, but I’m sure it’ll happen.

That’s it for this week’s News Drop, but that’s not it for all the new videos you can watch. We’ve got 7 great video interviews from WordCamp Austin up on our Youtube channel, we’ll share a link to those in the description. Check them out!

Thanks for watching! We’ll see you next week!
